June 10 Muni Service Changes Adds Service on Connector Routes By Clive Tsuma The 38R Geary Rapid will run every 6 minutes starting June 10 Starting Saturday, June 10, the SFMTA will be adding Muni service on several lines to address crowding, wait times and to support increased summer tourism. We’re also making some stop changes to serve more customers and make the service more accessible and reliable.  Increased Service  To address crowding and reduce pass-ups, we’re adding service on the 1 California between Clay and Drumm streets and California Street and Presidio Avenue – where demand is highest – on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  We’re also going to be starting service earlier on the 1X California Express, at 7:30 a.m. instead of 8 a.m., in response to customer feedback, as well as adding stops at Cherry, Spruce and Laurel streets and Presidio Avenue.   We’re also extending the evening service to the Presidio at 30 Stockton seven days a week. On Friday we shared the following message with many of our email and text (SMS) alerts subscribers. Please subscribe to Muni Alerts for real-time service updates or to our blog posts for more information.

We are closely watching what is happening with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), around the world and at home. We continue to communicate with health officials and city partners as we monitor developments in response to the declaration of a local emergency in San Francisco.

There remains no specific risk to transit riders regarding Coronavirus. 

We will continue to keep our customers and our online audience up to date with the latest from health officials on Twitter and Facebook.

For the Department of Emergency Management updates, text "COVID19" to 888-777.

Muni car cleaners and station custodians clean vehicles and high-touch surfaces regularly. Daily vehicle cleaning includes safe, strong disinfectants on high-touch surfaces at the end of service. High-touch surfaces such as railings in Muni subway stations are cleaned approximately every four hours. 

Please keep in mind that surfaces where people touch – bars or doors – should not be considered sanitized. The surface is only clean until someone touches it or coughs or sneezes nearby. 

To help prevent the spread of coronavirus locally, we need your help. There are simple daily precautions the public can take to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses such as Coronavirus.

The San Francisco Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend these precautions to protect against coronavirus, and we urge you to follow them:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. 
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Stay home if you are sick. 

If the situation changes, we’ll work with health authorities and city partners to keep customers and employees safe.

New T Third Connecting Chinatown to Sunnydale Starts Saturday By Christopher Ward New Muni Metro map. This Saturday the T Third starts its long-awaited new route connecting Chinatown-Rose Pak Station from 4th & King in Central Subway, Mondays through Fridays, 6 a.m. to midnight every 10 minutes and Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to midnight every 12 minutes.   The K Ingleside will now travel between Balboa Park and Embarcadero Station. Customers using Embarcadero & Folsom, Embarcadero & Brannan and 2nd and King platforms should transfer to the N Judah at Powell Station or 4th & King. Watch the new Muni Metro service  map animations . The following bus service changes also start this Saturday: The T Third Bus will now run along 3rd and 4th Streets in SoMa and on Stockton Street north of Market Street to align with the new T Third rail line and will no longer travel on the Embarcadero and Market Street.   The 6 Haight/Parnassus  will now run until 12 a.m. daily
