June 10 Muni Service Changes Adds Service on Connector Routes By Clive Tsuma The 38R Geary Rapid will run every 6 minutes starting June 10 Starting Saturday, June 10, the SFMTA will be adding Muni service on several lines to address crowding, wait times and to support increased summer tourism. We’re also making some stop changes to serve more customers and make the service more accessible and reliable.  Increased Service  To address crowding and reduce pass-ups, we’re adding service on the 1 California between Clay and Drumm streets and California Street and Presidio Avenue – where demand is highest – on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  We’re also going to be starting service earlier on the 1X California Express, at 7:30 a.m. instead of 8 a.m., in response to customer feedback, as well as adding stops at Cherry, Spruce and Laurel streets and Presidio Avenue.   We’re also extending the evening service to the Presidio at 30 Stockton seven days a week. Muni Holiday Schedule Change Reminder:
Muni will operate on a weekday, non-school schedule for the remainder of this week, January 2nd and 3rd. Additionally, some express and specialized routes will remain discontinued until the start of service on Monday, January 6th. Read more about the affected routes on our holiday service schedule page.

Events: There will be several unique events taking place around the city this weekend to help kick off the new year. On Saturday in Japantown, the 48th annual Japanese New Year's Festival will celebrate the Year of the Rat. Check out one of the West Coast's largest collections of postcards, trading cards, photographs and more at the Vintage Paper Fair on Saturday and Sunday in Golden Gate Park. For those who want the holiday season to last just a little longer, head up to Fisherman's Wharf for Pier 39's final tree lighting shows Saturday and Sunday beginning at 5 p.m. Read more about our featured event below.

Japantown

The 49th annual Oshogatsu Matsuri Celebration will usher in the Year of the Rat at the Japanese Cultural Center in Japantown this Saturday. The celebration will include cultural arts and crafts, a children's art contest, food and live entertainment. This event is free to the public.

How to Get There on Muni: Riders may take the 2 Sutter/Clement, 3 Jackson, 22 Fillmore, 38 Geary or the 38R Geary Rapid routes to near the event at 1840 Sutter Street.

Muni Service Notes: There are no planned service changes for this event.

New T Third Connecting Chinatown to Sunnydale Starts Saturday By Christopher Ward New Muni Metro map. This Saturday the T Third starts its long-awaited new route connecting Chinatown-Rose Pak Station from 4th & King in Central Subway, Mondays through Fridays, 6 a.m. to midnight every 10 minutes and Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to midnight every 12 minutes.   The K Ingleside will now travel between Balboa Park and Embarcadero Station. Customers using Embarcadero & Folsom, Embarcadero & Brannan and 2nd and King platforms should transfer to the N Judah at Powell Station or 4th & King. Watch the new Muni Metro service  map animations . The following bus service changes also start this Saturday: The T Third Bus will now run along 3rd and 4th Streets in SoMa and on Stockton Street north of Market Street to align with the new T Third rail line and will no longer travel on the Embarcadero and Market Street.   The 6 Haight/Parnassus  will now run until 12 a.m. daily
