June 10 Muni Service Changes Adds Service on Connector Routes By Clive Tsuma The 38R Geary Rapid will run every 6 minutes starting June 10 Starting Saturday, June 10, the SFMTA will be adding Muni service on several lines to address crowding, wait times and to support increased summer tourism. We’re also making some stop changes to serve more customers and make the service more accessible and reliable.  Increased Service  To address crowding and reduce pass-ups, we’re adding service on the 1 California between Clay and Drumm streets and California Street and Presidio Avenue – where demand is highest – on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  We’re also going to be starting service earlier on the 1X California Express, at 7:30 a.m. instead of 8 a.m., in response to customer feedback, as well as adding stops at Cherry, Spruce and Laurel streets and Presidio Avenue.   We’re also extending the evening service to the Presidio at 30 Stockton seven days a week. Kate Breen

Kate Breen, who has served the SFMTA in a Government Affairs role since 2001, was recently elected to serve a two-year term (2019-2021) as Chair of the California Transit Association (CTA) Executive Committee. As a member of the SFMTA executive leadership team, Breen oversees government and regulatory affairs at the local, state and federal levels. Before joining the agency, Breen honed her skills in the legislative affairs department at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.

Many members of the SFMTA staff serve in leadership roles with other organizations in the transportation industry. This is a central component of our strategy to advance the state of practice for planning, engineering and operations as well as influence public policy efforts related to safety and sustainable transportation across the state and both nationally and internationally. 

A longtime, active member of the CTA Executive Committee, Breen served as Vice Chair from 2017-2019 and has previously led the Association's State Legislative, and Finance and Management committees. She is also a member of the CTA Emerging Mobility Task Force, the California Zero Traffic Fatalities Task Force, and leads the SFMTA's engagement with the California City Transportation Officials (CaCTI) collaborative, in partnership with the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO).  

The California Transit Association brings together key leaders from around the State to set the foundation for a more effective dialogue about public transit. The Association connects riders to destinations, communities to economic progress, Association members to lawmakers and industry professionals to other like-minded individuals who are working toward the same goals. With over 250 member organizations, including all of California's largest urban transit operators, the CTA is the leading advocate on behalf of public transit in the state.

New T Third Connecting Chinatown to Sunnydale Starts Saturday By Christopher Ward New Muni Metro map. This Saturday the T Third starts its long-awaited new route connecting Chinatown-Rose Pak Station from 4th & King in Central Subway, Mondays through Fridays, 6 a.m. to midnight every 10 minutes and Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to midnight every 12 minutes.   The K Ingleside will now travel between Balboa Park and Embarcadero Station. Customers using Embarcadero & Folsom, Embarcadero & Brannan and 2nd and King platforms should transfer to the N Judah at Powell Station or 4th & King. Watch the new Muni Metro service  map animations . The following bus service changes also start this Saturday: The T Third Bus will now run along 3rd and 4th Streets in SoMa and on Stockton Street north of Market Street to align with the new T Third rail line and will no longer travel on the Embarcadero and Market Street.   The 6 Haight/Parnassus  will now run until 12 a.m. daily
